Imperial College Rugby is one of the largest clubs/societies at Imperial, and is the perfect place to start your university life.

FRESHERS AND PRESEASON

If you’re coming to Imperial as a fresher in October 2017 and are
considering joining the club, then please do get in touch with me over
summer and let me know where you’ve played your rugby to date and what
position you play. [see bottom of post for contact details]

We’d encourage you to get involved with all aspects of the club from the
off, starting with preseason training which will run from Monday 18th
September - Friday 29th September 2017.

Your halls won’t be ready until the move-in day on Saturday 30th
September, so let me know if you’re planning on coming down and I’ll
sort out accommodation for you with some of the senior players who’ve
got spare rooms.

THE CLUB

Imperial College Rugby has 3 teams that compete in the BUCS (university)
leagues and caters for all abilities, ranging from academy and regional
players to complete beginners.

TRAINING

During term time, we train as a club twice a week and play on Wednesday afternoons.

The 1st XV squad also attend line-out training on Tuesday mornings and have two strength & conditioning sessions per week.

SOCIALS AND TOUR

For many, the most important part of joining the rugby club is the social side…

Every year, the ICURFC social calendar is filled with events. In the
academic year gone by, there were more events planned than there were
available nights to have them on.

The club also has a weekend tour to Amsterdam scheduled in November, in
addition to a 3-week tour down the west coast of the USA for summer
2018.

As with the playing side of the game, the drinking side of things can be
as intense as you want it to be, and is every bit as inclusive.

As I mentioned, please drop me an email to jamie.curtis14@imperial.ac.uk
if you’d like any more info on the rugby, the socials or more generally
about Imperial.

It may also be useful to like the Facebook page Imperial College Rugby
and follow us on twitter @icurfc for training details etc.

Good luck with the exam results and we look forward to welcoming you to the club!

Jamie Curtis

1st XV Captain 2017-18
