Welcome to the official website for Imperial College Men’s rugby! If you’re looking for uni rugby during your time at IC, this is the place for you.

There’s nothing like a strong fresher intake to begin the year. Last year we enjoyed record fresher numbers, kickstarting a season which saw two of our three teams get promoted. If you’re an incoming IC student (undergrad or not) or just want to get in the mix next year, get in touch via either this page or by following the details at the end of the post, and we’ll let you know all the info you need!

TRAINING

We train twice a week (Monday night and Saturday morning) and play matches on Wednesday afternoons. The forwards also have additional lineout sessions on campus on Tuesday mornings before lectures. We also run strength & conditioning sessions.

FACILITIES

Most Mondays we train at Harlington, our home ground. On Saturdays and free Wednesdays, we will often have a run-out in Hyde Park, since this is closer and more convenient for most people.

TEAMS

We have three full time teams, suitable for a wide range of abilities. The 2’s and 3’s were both promoted at the end of last season, in no small part due to the record breaking freshers from last year.…

RUMS 12 - 52 Imperial, 31/01/18

Last Wednesday saw the mighty 2nd XV take on pesky medics from UCL (RUMS) at Fortress Harlington – the same team that they’d comfortably beaten 36-7 away just a couple of weeks previously. With the classic bitter cold wind swirling in the Fortress, the anticipation of that night’s ACC on everyone’s minds and coach LJ with his standard “win this and go out and get smashed later” team talk, the scene was set. The match started perfectly for IC with some strong carries across the gain line sucking in the RUMS defence and leaving space out wide for Ifan Dafydd to go over in the corner for the first try of the match. Not long after, Harold Pinter crossed the whitewash after hitting a beautiful line through the midfield and with the pace of a back, second row Gianluigi Tosti also bagged a meat pie. By half time, Imperial were leading 19-0 and just one more try would secure them the bonus point.
Early on in the second half, after some pressure in the RUMS 22, it looked like Imperial were about to get this bonus point when Jack Fraser threw a beautifully weighted flat pass straight into the arms of a RUMS player who ran in a 90m interception try – always nice to give the opposition…

Imperial College Rugby is excited to announce the extension of our
sponsorship contract with Green Giraffe for the 2017/18 season!
After the achievements of our first two seasons together and their
backing of our tour to Paris and the City Varsity, we are very pleased that
Green Giraffe is continuing their support into a third year!

Green Giraffe is a specialist financial advisory focused
entirely on the renewable energy sector. The company has grown from the handful
of founders in 2010 to over sixty employees. Working in all renewable
technologies, with headquarters in Paris and Utrecht, and offices in London and
Hamburg, the company has raised over EUR 12 billion for renewable energy
projects and has worked in 18 countries across 5 continents. Green Giraffe
have had a successful 2017 so far, topping the inspiratia Q2 2017 league tables
for renewables advisory with over USD 2.4 billion of transactions, and are on
track to open their new office in Cape Town at the end of 2017.

With six Imperial alumni working at Green Giraffe, and
having previously recruited from the rugby club, there is a strong
link between the company and the university. Former CGCU Rugby
Captain Matt Taylor, Director of the…
